I wrote MAGE from 1996-2004. Notable crews I represented was GSC (Graffiti Style Criminals) and CK (Creative Kontrol.) During those years, I really considered myself a true graff writer, everything I did in life seemed to be somehow related to graffiti. Occasionally I’ll rock a piece or paint something (more so stencils now) but I no longer write graff. However the design ethics, lifestyle, and diehard principles will always remain in my heart and be applied to whatever medium I work with. I just do not feel that letters (especially a writer’s NAME) is necessary to express artistic value, other than the EGO. No matter how fresh that ego (tag/graff name in the form of pieces) may appear, it does not impress me and I think it’s rather overdone at this point in the street art evolution.
